Senneh is the old name of the modern city of Sanandaj. The rugs originating from the city and from nomads or farmers in the surrounding region are known as Senneh rugs. These double-sided kilims are woven with the traditional slit-weave technique. They often feature small-scale patterns such as bouquets of roses, rows of trees or flowers, and traditional Mahi (fish) motifs. Larger central fields can also be present, frequently framed with a rhombus in different colors.
