P&H - Volan 162

A sea kayak that tracks honestly on flat water and responds eagerly when you put it on edge covers a lot of ground, and the Volan 162 does exactly that in a 16'2" hull that balances hull speed with nimble, enjoyable handling. It's a compact composite sea kayak that works as hard on a multi-day coastal trip as it does on a quick day paddle.

Bow rocker and volume keep the ride dry across a range of conditions, while the shaped bow deck manages water shedding efficiently and resists purling when the chop picks up. The reinforced bow deck geometry adds stiffness and strength for deep water rescues, and the low rear deck keeps rolling and re-entry accessible without a fight. The paddle shaft recess gives you a reliable bracing point on water entries, and large bow and stern hatches plus a day hatch handle gear storage for everything from day trips to overnight adventures. An optional bow mini hatch and full deck lines and elastics round out a very capable setup.
